LMK if you need help with Moderation.
I'm already mod of several Yahoo groups and am familiar with the interface

Robert,
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/strategicon_Con/ is the link to join
they have to have an active Yahoo account to join.

What is the link to the new Yahoo Group?
What do the people have to do to join?
I will put this all in the marketing email. If you are taking charge of
the new Yahoo Group, then we don't need a Google Group.

Well I started a Yahoo group, if someone else wants to start and manage the
Google group, please do so.
However, maybe if we do something like:
"Due to the spammers we have decided to start a new Yahoo group, join it
here(LINK)" on the front page of the website, and in the email you are
sending we can do something to marginalize the poeple we lost.

I agree as well.
Whoever plans to be the next group administrator should take a look at
Google Groups. I prefer them to Yahoo and they may give us more Spam
protection.
Whatever we do, we need to send a notice to all the people on the old
Strategicon Yahoo Group so they don't start thinking Gamex was cancelled.
I am forever stunned by the speed of false rumors on the internet.

I would be inclined to agree. Yahoo Groups pushes the information to people.
The Forums are old 'pull' style discussion. You can guess which one gets
more traction these days.

No offense, but unless we get a huge volume the forums are not as good as a
Yahoo group. The additional signup hassles will make most people not
bother. If we had an active Yahoo group where we all posted things, we
could get the actual feedback we wanted on the con. We should advertise it
on the website though. The current Yahoo group is gone, so we need to start
a new one.
Some people may want the forums, I am not one of them.

Since we want to convince people to join the forums anyway, shouldn't we
just send out the link for the forums and then delete the Yahoo Group? -

Unfortunately we need to do as suggested and make join in an approval
process, otherwise the Yahoo group just becomes a Spam haven. We have seen
it on other groups, and HAD to do it to keep the group active and
appropriate.
