Bad cinema
From what I was told---Sit thru 3 aweful movies, potty break in between, prize if you survive.
No playing on cell phone or hand held games nor reading a book etc. during movies should be a rule (if it isn't already).
Is it "BAD" cinema or just bad cinema.
Some of the movies listed are camp, cult, disappointing or just crappy movies but not something worth giving a prize to for sitting thru three of them.
Pluto Nash, Ishtar, Gigli, howard the Duck and Battlefield earth were BAD.
Most the fantasy/sci-fi  movies of 70s/80s got us gamers into the theatres and looking back they weren't good movies but they really weren't BAD. They aren't hard to sit thru, especially since most everyone has seen them. And crappy sci-fi remakes/sequels/prequels aren't really BAD. Speed racer, mummy 3, rollerball, lost in space, conan the destroyer, catwoman, and (groan) batman and robin all blew chunks. But what about movies we avoided like the plague. Movies so bad you didn't see them or so cheesy that kraft wanted to name a cheese after them.
In 1987 a group of us went to "barbarian queen" and during the movie 11 people walked out at different times. So bad we treated it like rocky horror and made up lines as it went and had people in audience laughing . Yea, so bad people didn't tell us to shut up.
Santa Clause Conquers the Martins, Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, Plan 9 from Outer Space, leonard part 6, kazaam (sorry shaq) etc are aweful movies that are like fingernails on a chalkboard to sit thru. Same with john wayne in "The conquerer". Movies you do not want to sit thru and you have no clue about (unlike superheroe, star wars or trek and fantasy character movies).
Non-sci-fi/fantasy. Sit thru Staying alive (sequel to saturday night fever- John travolta gos from disco to broadway and a loincloth), followed by Spice World (spice girls movie), then From Justin to Kelly, Glitter and the icing on the cake Breaki 2: Electric Boogaloo. You earned a prize for those 6 hours and it wasn't movies you probably seen and will never want to see any of them again. With a bonus of the songs sticking in your head for the rest of the convention.
I enjoyed seeing all the movie ideas. Fun stuff.
If new movies as prizes are needed I can donate some.
