I like that idea already

I think a TurkeyDay Weekend Con is a good idea. After you stuff your face
on Thursday, it's pretty boring until Monday.
However, setting a convention vs. LosCon is a bad idea. However, a joint
partnership with LosCon to combine forces could be interesting....

My memory was that Gamex moved primarily because the Pasadena Hilton screwed
over the folks at Loscon by not fully disclosing the level of work being
done on their remodel (sound familiar?). It was always the smallest con and I
didn't think the move had to do with it growing in size. I may very well be
wrong there.
Yes, Son of OrcCon was over Thanksgiving weekend and doing a fourth show
then would be a terrible idea. But the location was right across from the South
Coast Plaza and a stone's throw from John Wayne. That's what I was thinking
of in mentioning it. If I recall correctly, it was a good space but I'm not
sure how big it is (or what it's like now). And expense could very well be an
issue.

As I recall, Son of OrcCon was the attempt to have a convention over
Thanksgiving weekend, and everyone told Alan it wasn't going to work.
And it didn't. The only conventions I know that have survived and/or
thrived over that weekend are SF cons.
I'm sure the people who did the research will correct me if I'm wrong,
but one of the problems I recall with Anaheim as a location is that it
is EXPENSIVE.
