The owners of PacifiCon broke up and one group of owners formed ConQuest which was only a Labor Day con as the Peninsula's response to the East Bay's DunDraCon.

Years later, they sold to Mondo who was going to launch his Avalon Conventions, but then decided to keep ConQuest across his events. He still uses Avalon like we use Strategicon. He has been ballsy in his promotion of new cons in Sac and Seattle and now Las Vegas.

Personally, I think April 18-20 is a bad weekend but LV is a good location. Kinda surprised GenCon didn't do Vegas instead of SoCal. LV is a great multi-state hub and much cheaper than Anaheim.

His success or failure in LV should give us a good glimpse at how much advertising we should aim at Nevada in the future.

And let's not forget, ManaCon became KublaCon. With ConQuest, they
started out with different names and then have come around to having
them all be ConQuest. My first thought on why it's called CruiseCon
is because the whole emphasis there really is the cruise, not the
gaming.

If we want to start doing this type of exchange and marketing the cons
more aggressively, we should probably resolve the naming thing first.
