While we're gathered around the council fire...

Strategicon: The Strategicon name has gotten a higher profile, versus the seperate con names,?since our group bought out Rocky and folks.? It's a natural byproduct of our strengthened advertising, PR and networking.? It would be counterproductive to have that name recognition vanish.? Keep Strategicon.? The combination of the name elements of Strategy and Con serve us well.

OrcCon: The OrcCon name is most memorable.? For years and years, I never could remember which con happened when, but OrcCon stood out.? It also is the most out-of-place name, with it's origin in Orange County. Kind of like the Holy Roman Empire, which for most of its existance was neither of its three named elements. And if it's a convention of orcs, I'd be inclined to contact the nearest dwarf kingdom about getting their axes sharp and getting it cleaned out.

Gamex:? Not as bad a name as some say, methinks.? Elements: Game and Expo... at LAX.? What the Sam Hill is wrong with that?? Picture the ad or flyer, "Strategicon presents the Gamex 2008 Game Expo."? Expo!? Sounds highfalutin'! Nothing wishy-washy.? Realign the ad copy and we are fine.

Gateway: Then there was?Gateway.? Gateway.?What is there to say?? Nothing, really, since the name really says nothing. Gateway to games? Fun? The airport? Manhattan Beach? THIS is the con to rename.?Since it's on Labor Day weekend, I've thought a name based on "leisure" might be an idea, but all have sounded silly. Here is the target to brainstorm.

Well, there you go,

"I have spoken!"
