David didn't ask for a demo table this time. I'll make sure to check
with him specifically to see if he wants one for Gamex.
The dealers that did ask for tables this time were War House, Conquest
Miniatures, Strategic Retreat/Skrall, and GMT. That's it. And War
House I had to keep harping on, because what they did was use the
entire space around the *free* demo table as sales space. They had a
legitimate reason for why they didn't have demos going at the
beginning (they only found out right before the con that their regular
demo guy had died, which is a long, strange story, but as far as I can
tell it's true), but I emphasized to them that if they didn't use the
table for demos, they were going to have to pay for it, and that got
them going a little. I'm going to work closely with them for Gamex to
ensure the free space is used appropriately. The other three actually
used their free space for demos.
And just to clarify for anyone who isn't aware of how we've marketed
this, dealers can ask for a free demo table as part of their booth,
but it has to be used for demos only or they have to pay for it. The
idea was to make it easier for companies to demo the products and be
able to immediately promote the sale. As I've said, however, few
dealers have wanted the free table.
