>From Janice's feedback, it seems the dealers do not want demo tables in the dealer's room and seem to prefer a demo space in the main gaming areas. Even though our dealers have failed Sales 101 on so many occassions, I think we should go with their desires here because we want them to use the demo tables and encourage demos.

Our attendees like demos of new product so I want to see our demos increase for them first and foremost and secondarily as a sales vehicle for the dealers. Many gamers come to cons to see new games they did not know existed. The "hey what's that, that's cool" factor is important to many attendees. This is why the demo tables need to be free - the tables are 60% about gamers and 40% about the dealer's sales. A dedicated demo space that is consistently active and with signage that says DEMO LOUNGE (hee hee) or other descriptor would be great.

Instead of charging the dealers for demo space, let's see if they will give swag / dealer dollars to the GMs of the demo events instead to encourage more demos happening. At the end of the day, if our demo area becomes extremely popular and our attendance hits high marks, then we increase the cost for dealer tables overall. Right now, we need the dealers more than they need us. At a certain point of success, we will be able to charge top dollar for the privilege of being in our dealer room.

Hugh didn't post to the list, but he also told me he was in favor of
keeping the demo tables free. And Robert, our other marketing/PR
type, also thinks it's better to have them be free. So my inclination
is to keep them free for now and maybe revisit the policy at the end
of the year. I'll be keeping track of who asked for them and who
actually used them, to get a gauge of how desirable and how effective
they are.

It certainly couldn't hurt, and it would go along with a lot of what
has already been said about better signage in general.
