Well it was actually short of what we needed obviously, and they only sent
that much this time because of the 9 MIBS running so many events, and
Steve Jackson being there. Normally we don't get near that much because we
usually have fewer MIBs and less events.
We lost a lot of MIBs from the previous con ownership regime. The old head
of RPG's was also the LA Lead MIB. When we axed him (which needed to be
done, and I wouldn't have it any other way) he took a lot of the LA MIBs
with him. At this last con, we had MIBS from LA, OC, SD, and San Jose.
I'm hoping they saw how great things were now, and we continue to get good
turn out for the future cons as well.
As MIB Convention Liaison (a Steve Jackson Games title), Devi will get all
the reports from the MIBs to turn into the "Control" along with his
own. (Per MIB requirements) He will, of course, send his appreciation for
all their continued support on behalf of the MIB, but Robert, if you
personally would like to write something, and Eric A. agrees, on behalf of
Strategicon, I'm sure it would be appreciated and appropriate. I don't
think it would be appropriate if it came from me (being Devi's wife.)
Technically, what the MIBS have done in the past is "Demo events" and give
out product at the DEMOS. Devi has worked hard these last couple cons
to change the MIBs from "DEMO events" to "scheduled MIB game events" , which
has increased the number of attendees at the events significantly. I'm
sorry if the people felt that they should have gotten dealer dollars instead
of product as a result, but for the future, any events that are not run by
MIBs will just get tournament support, and not "MIB prize support".
Devi, personally, used his MIB points (which he only earned 2 as Convention
Liasion, about $10) to buy full GURPS books to give out at the seminars,
however there was never an opportunity to give them away, so RGP
headquarters is welcome to use them as "give aways" for next con. That's
$40 worth of free, new, GURPS books for the con right there.
