Subject: [Deptheads] Miniature Events Expanded and confirmed
We have a first for our next convention for the Miniature room:
We have an official Blood bowl tournament for the Miniature room for MONDAY
That's right, we not only have a Monday event, but it is a sponsored event
(http://www.bloodbowl.net/) hosted by FABBL (http://fabbl.net/)
They will have their web page up in a day or so.
FABBL stands for Fantasy Blood Bowl League
NAF stands for Nuffle Amorical Football - this is the official
International Blood Bowl organization.
This is very exciting
As I had stated earlier, Socal GW League has stepped up to host the Sat/Sun
GW tournaments this coming weekend.
In addition, they have proposed a long term written contract/partnership
between Strategicon and SCGWL for the next couple of years, to include all
three conventions. They would run GW RTTs, a Fantasy Indi GT (one weekend)
and a 40k Indi GT (one weekend), as well as a few more GW based events.
They would like to see GW's Games Day
(http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?categoryId=cat1240007
<http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?categoryId=cat1240007
&aId=3400006> &aId=3400006) put to shame, having demo tables, as well
encouraging local gaming stores and clubs to set up events at our
convention. They are indicating that they could gurantee at least 50
participants a day at all three convention in their main events for the
weekend, given that their membership is over 100 active members in the
Southern California region.
Disadvantage of this is: this is in direct competition with the Broadside
bash proposal which supports us on President's day weekend, but does not
provide any support for us the other two conventions. Broadside bash
brought in 70 participants on President's day weekend.
Eric do we have any guarantees or written agreements from the Pacific
Maruaders folks?
If we did a written agreement with the SCGWL people, what would we be
looking for:
. Guarantee for a certain amount of people in the event?
. Guarantee for a certain amount of room nights in the hotel?
What types of incentives Could/would we offer for the deal?
. One or two room reimbursements for the SCGWL?
. Prize Support?
. Valet parking?
. Dinner at the Ritz?
. (I know I'm getting silly here now)
Now they have already guaranteed me personally for the next show, but I need
to know where to go with this, as it has major implications for our
convention in the future. I feel that I need to have a sit down between
myself, Mike Garner (and other reps of SCGWL), Eric (and other owners of
Strategicon) to work this out. I believe that I can do initial
negotiations, if I get enough guidance and authority for this, and we could
have the sit down, contract signing, and press announcement at Gateway 2008!
A major support and push by a large league like this would go far to help us
over the parking feasko that is coming!
