Good list Heather. The problem is that very few of them have wide appeal.
A good method would be to look at games played at the con. What do we have that's played 10+ times per convention? If you make that list and find that 2 or more of these 10+ games are made by the same person, then that person might make a good guest.
We might want to consider less GoH and more Special Guests that are department specific. Of course, we don't really want to fly in Special Guests so we need to look locally. A long list of SGs might be more impressive than one GoH who does not have wide cross-gaming appeal.
Again, my favorite choice for GoH is a gaming company where we bring out a small team of designers and reps to run lots of stuff for us and we use them as workhorses. Bring them out, give them a dealer's table and require them to demo and host a bucketload of events plus encourage them to do playtesting and sneak peaks. AKA, partner with them as a marketing vehicle that benefits both of us.
Regarding the Dragonlance movie - it was animated and came out on video only - rather low grade schlock unfortunately. The screenwriter is frequent con attendee. We should probably show it in the Movie Room just for its name recognition.
