[Deptheads] observations

Two good points.
I think we should help bridge the gap between the GMs and the dealers. We should find out which dealers want to supply discounts / swag / goodies and get volunteers who want to do demos for them. We could probably develop a cadre of people who in exchange for getting a game free before the con will demo the game for us and then point out where to buy it in the dealer's room.
Authors could be interesting guests. Our RPGA dude Mike Rizzo just talked with Ed Greenwood (Forgotten Realms books) and Ed is open to being a future guest. SoCal probably has a dozen known authors. However, I am unsure how many people will come see authors at a gaming con. Does anyone have any point of reference for this?

Well, i'm back from a week of FAA BS, went over the 107 EMails since last Monday, and had 2 observations of the threads..
Demo Tables - I am all in favor of demo tables whereever they are, so however it works is good with me. Please remember though, that as recent as last year dealer's were getting actual cash off their tables to run demos, as much as $200 per convention could be saved by running demos. they didn't do it with 3 exceptions (who ran about 4 or 5 each at most). after reading the threads, I realized the primary problem we are not addressing is people to RUN the demos. Dealer's aren't bringing them, and our staff is pretty swamped....any ideas on this tangent? Do we want to start soliciting for "Staff Demo Runners" or something like that?
Guests - It seems to me there may be an effective and fairly inexpensive "multimedia" source here. Almost always at cons I see people taking breaks reading.....any Authors of books gamers read in the Area we can get to come in? Even checking on Authors that live a ways away might turn in some good results...?
