Pre-reg starts this weekend.
There are many volunteers that would like to pre-register for events. Thanks for bringing it up.
There has to be a procedure for volunteers being put into the system without needing to ask. I am sure there are several that would pre-reg for events when it is available but since they are not in the system they just blow it off.
Mary and Tracy handle badges and volunteers. Eric A. put them into the system. So basically dept. heads should get their volunteer and staff lists to Mary and Tracy asap so they can pass it on to Eric A. and he input the list. All volunteers go thru mary and tracy first.
And what is badge reimbursement? We give badges upfront.
I am not talking about desk or dept. help, I am talking about gms.
I can easily add another 50 events of collectables (so could all depts.) but unless it is a hot or new game, or is currently played at a local shop, or the gm is bringing a group of 8+ people I have told people they will be reimbursed for the badge afterwards if they have people show up and the event runs. Giving badges to people to run non-mainstream games and not have anyone show up to play them but them and their assisstant does not benefit the convention. Reimbursement if the game runs (4+ people not counting the gms and helpers) motivates people to get players. I could have someone schedule the austin powers ccg at 8 am on sunday and shadowrun duels cmg at midnight on saturday to get their badge hours. If they already had a badge and no one shows up they still enjoyed the convention. If they paid for badge upfront and got it reimbursed if their events ran they are making sure they get 4 people per event if they have to walk the con
advertising it or getting friends to show up to convention and play.
Am I being a hard ass or am I right to reimburse later for niche games?
Obvioulsy asking someone to run a game is not the same as them volunteering to run a game. If you ask you give the carrot. If they ask you dangle the carrot.

Subject: [Deptheads] Volunteer Question
I have a volunteer who would like to pre-reg for some con events. He will be getting a free badge for his time in the computer/video game room. How can he pre-reg for events?
