[Deptheads] Magic The Gathering Questions

Since I have only been on the deptheads list a
relative short time I may have missed discussions of
some of these items. If so my apologies in advance.
1) The Magic Pro Tour is in Hollywood the same weekend
as Gamex 2008. What if anything have we done to try
to get Magic players to Gamex or have we just ignored
the overlap and hoped for the best? And if we are
just hoping for the best have we estimated how many we
anticipate losing to the Pro Tour weekend?
2) Also, do we have any kind of relationship with WOTC
where we could encourage them to not schedule major
local events simultaneously at with our convention?
If partenered with them and their event going one week
later we could have done a HUGE amount of promotion
for their Pro Tour event at our convention. A quick
glance at the other pro tour events seems to indicate
that holiday weekends are NOT a priority for all of
their pro tour events.
3) When Eric Aldrich and I were talking a few weeks
ago he mentioned that one or more of our Magic
tournaments for the Gamex weekend were sanctioned, I
just checked the Magic The Gathering listing of
sanctioned tournaments for the weekend and couldn't
find any of our events listed. Did I miss it or do we
need to remind them to put our events on their
website?
4) I notice that 2 of our Magic events are listed as
not having a specified format. If these events are
standard or block constructed or extended it should be
specified so people know the right kinds of decks to
bring.
5) I see we are having a couple of booster drafts.
Are people required to bring their own packs or is one
of our vendors selling them on the spot? Unless they
are being sold there or as part of an entry fee we
should specify what set(s) is/are being drafted so
people will know what booster packs to pre-purchase.
6) Why are number of participants for booster drafts
limited to 16?
