Miniature after action report:
Things that went well:
. Miniature Paint and Take in the Foyer. We had over 75
participants, the table was busy most of the time it was open.
. Types of tables utilized: we used 4x8 tables throughout the
miniature room and this allowed for a great flexibility of games that ranged
from 4x4 to 4x6 to 4x8 to 8x8 to larger to be scheduled and played.
Initially we had some round tables placed in the miniature area, but this
was rectified Saturday morning before it became a problem.
. HGMS came an ran several events, bringing in a good historical
crowd.
. The Baggins group did a great job with the 40K & fantasy RTTs and
associated mega battles afterwards.
. Great contributions by miniature manufacturers for the event,
mostly Reaper and Dark-age miniatures, with some GW thrown in.
Things that need improvement:
. Signup sheets need to be posted at the miniature table for event
signups.
. Table signage needs improvement. We did get some plastic signs to
post events names and table numbers, but did not produce event signs to
place in them prior to the convention, utilizing hand written signs instead,
which did not show up as well.
. Paint and Take Signage. Again, tried to utilize hand written
2'x3" easel paper signs on an easel to advertise the table, these did not
show well or boldly enough.
. Paint and take miniatures selection: Need more miniature
manufacturers to contribute to the event (Wargods, Privateer Press, other
manufacturers). This is a hard sell for many miniature manufacturers, who
need convincing that this provides them good PR and press (especially in
hard economic times)
. Painting competition: Need more notice if our department is going
to provide judges, certificates, and space for the competition.
