I'm sending the following out to my friends at BGN, About Boardgames, and BGG. I will also post it on the Yahoo groups in SoCal. Naturally, I'll drop off some of the regional stuff for the local folks. I will send this to the local papers, too, and see what we can get going. I'll add more detail on the German scene for them, too.

Michael Schacht to debut three new games and an exclusive Zooloretto tile at Orccon 2009 in Los Angeles, February 13-16.

"Strategicon's Orccon 2009 is welcoming award-winning game designer Michael Schacht as Guest of Honor for their annual convention held at the LAX Raddison from February 13-16.

Mr. Schacht is set to provide the US debut of three major new releases at Orccon. "Zooloretto Exotic" is a new expansion for the Spiel Des Jahres-winning family game of the same name. "The Golden City" is a major board game from Kosmos, and "Valdora" is also a major new release from Abacusspiele due out at Nuremberg this year. All three games will be available for exclusive play at Orccon along with some games Mr. Schacht will bring for playtesting at the event.

In addition, Mr. Schacht has provided an exclusive Zooloretto game tile for Orccon 2009 that will be available to Strategicon attendees this year. Strategicon also runs Gamex 2009 on Memorial Day Weekend and Gateway 2009 on Labor Day Weekend. The tile will also be used in a big combined Zooloretto/Aquaretto tournament held at the convention.

Orccon 2009 regularly plays host to approximately fifteen-hundred gamers from around the world. Board game tournaments offer dealer dollar prizes and have no individual event cost. (and everyone else who might care)  Michael Schacht, our Guest of Honor,  has just given us leave to mention the New Games he will be bringing, and has just released at the Nuremburg Toy Fair in Germany:

"Zooloretto Exotic", a new expansion for Zooloretto

He'll also be bringing a game (or games) for "playtesting" events.  

There will be a Giant combined games event for Zooloretto, Aquaretto, and Zooloretto XXL tournament on Saturday.  These games will all be played combined and played all together, and Schacht will present the award to the winner.

Schacht has also provided STATEGICON a SPECIAL Zooloretto tile for US to give, or pass out to attendees of the tournament, or award winners, or whatever we decided.  This is NOT a "tile" that can not be purchased.   He has given us permission to use this tile at all 3 Strategicon events this year!  It come in the form of Post Card Art he e-mailed me.

I'm now going to start cranking out news on the web site. Anything anyone wants added to the front page let me know ASAP. I'm obviously going to promote the special guests, Broadside Bash, Flames of War and anything else that deserves front page mention I can get. The room news is up there now.

We need someone to check on the parking rates so we can update the parking info page.

With everything backed up a week and the room deadline extension, I need final room requests to Norm by the meeting next week. Other deadlines are unaffected.
