HMGS was one of the first groups I named when I started the group discount
program, and I think they are still on the list already.

Hi Robyn,
Bill Witthans here, newly minted President of HMGS/PSW. I wanted to
approach you with the idea of giving card carrying members or HMGS/PSW a discount
to the Strategicon series of yearly conventions. I have had inquiries
about this from members and had this as a goal from before I was elected.
HMGS/PSW has a "New Wind" blowing in its sails and is making great strides in
promoting the hobby in the South Western area. Our last convention was the
best and biggest in years. This was due to pushes made by the "New"
leadership even before they were elected. We know that you guys are a large force in
the Southwest Gaming scene and we would like to make a larger effort to
help you as that will also help us!
One of the great complaints of the hundreds of miniature gamers I interact
with is the cost and inconvenience of "airport conventions. You and I have
talked about this before, yes I was the guy who met and talked with you in
the hallway at the last airport convention, I also ran the "Spaceship"
combat game "Full Thrust" that afternoon and evening. I wrote a very favorable
report on my website as well as giving you guys and the "new" management
at the con a nod on the HMGS site. I relies that the inconvenient of the
current location is difficult to change (I know you guys are considering
moving) but the cost is a possible? If you could get HMGS members a slight
discount, say 1/3 off? ($30 ticket is now $20) it would go a long way in getting
a lot more miniature players down to the conventions. We have quite a few
"Family" gamers and bringing families is an expensive proposition in these
tough economic times and a little incentive goes a long way! I always look
at it like this 2/3rds of something ($30) is better than 3/3rds of
nothing! More people through your doors is always good! Good for vendors, good
you, good for the positive advertising they take away and tell friends who
then come with them to the next convention.
We are also in the process of redoing our HMGSPSW.ORG website and
"Occasional Messenger" news letter. These would be great spot to advertise your
conventions!
If you can work on this on your end and you or Jose Mendiola, get back to
me it would be great! I would also appreciate you forwarding this to
"Rick"? I think his name was, I talked to him at the con and he later emailed me
I believe he is on of the new convention owners, the director? He had long
hair as I remember∑lol. I and my officers will work on this end to get
more and better games down to your conventions to help support the "new"
influx of people.
Regards,
Bill Witthans
