[Deptheads] Meeting notes

While we have been the February con to be at in the past, other cons are now
nipping at our heels:

Kingdomcon (http://www.kingdom-con.com/ ) in early April

Templcon on the East coast the week before our convention
(http://www.templecon.org ) This one is a fast growing and is attracting
public as well as industry support from many manufacturers.

I would love to be able to emulate their success.

Robyn

Thanks very much for the well rounded post, Victor, but I have one question.
You said there is nothing competing with us in February. Do you not
consider Dundracon to be competition? I know they're not to the degree that
KublaCon is, but I know some people in the L.A. area who regularly go to
DDC. Is it that there are only a very small number of them? Just
wondering.

Orccon always does good. Mostly because we are coming off a 6 month layoff,
we are more organized with more big tourneys wanting to run at orccon (I
always get national, regional and qualifiers for orccon- last year an
international event that had people from over 8 different states plus mexico
and canada), plus there is nothing competing with us. We are the regional
place to be in february. In May we have the bay area and other conventions
competing with us for attendees (and we lose alot of people because those
cons are once a year and we are 3 times a year) and in august we are right
after many major cons plus gencon (where boardgames are secondary to
miniature, collectable and rpg games) and at the same time as other
conventions like dragoncon (where role playing reigns supreme).
