Hi Robyn,

Is this okay to cut and paste on to Facebook (as is?) or do you want to   create a different postable ad for facebook?

Gayle

Subject: [Deptheads] Flames of War Tournament: OrcCon 2010

So we have it booked!!

One of the West coast’s largest FOW qualifier tournaments is returning to :

OrcCon 2010

We will be hosting a 2-day, 5-round tournament in Los Angeles over President’s day weekend, February 13 –14 at OrcCon.  Here’s the website for the convention http://www.strategicon.net/. The event is being held at the Radisson hotel at LAX.  Sorry for the Valentine’s conflict, but I don’t have control over the date. Just take your wife/girlfriend out the weekend before and make it nicer then normal(I’m looking at you, Tom).  Anyway, you should all treat them special everyday given that they put up with you.

This will be a 2,000 point mid-war doubles tournament, and will be a qualifier for the 2010 Nationals Tournament.  All official published lists (army books and .pdfs) are legal.  Each player gets 1,000 points to build a legal company.  Up to 100 points can be shared with your team mate.

Germans can ally with Germans, Italians, or minor allies.
Italians can ally with Italians or Germans
Russians can ally with Russians
Western allies can ally with other Western allies.

No demo carriers (Goliaths and Bogwards) or special characters allowed.

We will have room for 40 teams (80 players), so first come, first served. There will be a $10/person entry fee (all of which will go towards prizes).  We will also have prize support from Battlefront and from my own stash of stuff.  Everyone will receive at least one blister pack, so no one walks away empty-handed.  Prizes will include but are not limited to, Osprey books, blister packs, Platoon Boxes, Army Boxes, Dice, Rule/Army Books, painting guides, and painted figures.

No histories are required for this event.  Lists are due to me no later than Monday February 1, no lists will be accepted after this cut-off.  Both lists for the team need to be submitted together.  Lists received before January 15 will receive a token for one free re-roll, good once for the event and good for any die roll.

I will also be including a few “events” in certain scenarios. Figure on one each day.  Also, expect board specific terrain rules and snow boards using the I-95 Odd-Bog rule (each player roles a dice before their movement phase, on an odd die roll, they make bog checks for all non-road movement).

The first round will be the only round where I will try to not have people from the same gaming group playing against each other.  Players will not have to play the same team twice.  I will try to always do Red vs. Blue, but closest victory points trump all.  I will also try to make sure that you do not play on the same table more than once.

Lists will be posted prior to the event for all to see and comment on.  So let the trash talking commence.

The first round will start at 9:30 sharp on Saturday.  Please arrive no later then  8:30 for sign-in and table assignments.  Each round will be 3 hours.  I’d like to get assignments out early so people can begin set-up prior to 9:30.

Something new for set up this time.  Each team gets 15 minutes to set up. Platoons not deployed at the end of the time limit will come on per the reserves rule.  Last year we had some games finish before others had finished setting up, and this really isn’t acceptable.  Even infantry hoards should be able to set up in that time, so make a decision and stick to it.

Airborne players will be able to swap out Seize and Hold for Free-for-All.  Both players will need to be airborne for this to happen.

I am going to need terrain help to pull this off.  Please send me an email if you are interested in helping with the terrain.  My preference is for very terrain dense boards that present interesting and challenging tactical problems.  Please no pool tables.  Please send pictures if you can.

I will update this posting as I have more information.

Spread the word!

Thanks.
