Tim,
When I envisioned having a paint and take at the convention, I knew that it
would require someone with prior knowledge to help us excel in the job. So
Katie was the perfect fit!! Unfortunately she will not be able to provide
us with coverage all 3 conventions next year, but she has been training
several of our volunteers, so we will have someone to fill her very large
shoes and keep the project running. Isn¹t that the true definition of a
good department manager, to find great people and let them run with it. I
also talked with her and she did confirm that unpainted figurines are ok as
long as she receives them in time to get them primed prior to the
convention.
Its great that Janice has the contacts to help us on this, but I will have
to place more calls to see what other manufacturers are willing to supply us
with some models. Many companies are unwilling to participate in Paint and
takes (such at Privateer Press) as they don¹t see the value for them. GW
tends to have some cheap kits that we can sometimes acquire (such as the
starter kits for fantasy and 40k. It would be good if we can get some LOTR
also.
If anyone among the staff or department heads have any excess or spare
miniature they wish to divest themselves of, the convention will gladly take
them off your hands.
I will send out reminders in December about this also!!
Thankyou Janice and Tim!!
