[Deptheads] Strategicon feedback

Losing people is always an issue, but do the Westsiders add to the over all profit of the hotel? Most get free badges (MY opinion, and can be disputed of course) and most do not stay at the hotel. So, are we staying at LAX for people that don't add a profit margin? Again, solely my opinion.

At Gateway, I was initially checked into a room that stank of cigarette smoke. The fellow who very quickly came up to help move me to another room told me that they have problems with smokers that use the rooms and they can't go after them without evidence. However, I think their housekeeping staff should try to let them know when a room has obviously been compromised. Maybe they don't even notice it anymore...
That said, the exact same thing happened to me at Sheraton in St. Louis just over a week ago. There is only so much they can do. Hopefully, they have the rooms where they can move people.
That said, I would favor an increase in cost if it meant a better hotel. I heard plenty of grumbling and if the parking isn't WAY better at Orccon, I think we will lose some people. Even better would be moving to another facility even if it is somewhere else. I know we worry about losing the Westside folks that are local but we'd end up with locals from another space if we moved.

I didn't have any problems with our room, no smells or AC problems. I never have staying at the hotel.

"The convention was wonderful" is really nice to hear, I worked really hard to try to provide good space for the LARP games, but failed miserably due to the Hotel.Sorry Ryan. I had to buy a bottle Fabreeze to make our room livable. The AC in the pool rooms was weak if it was running at all. The AC in the penthouse was too strong, game ended up moving due to the cold. I ended up with two different small "dings" on my van that I didn't notice until getting home.
