[Deptheads] Maybe we should restart D&D Camp

Those were cool.
I was in my last years of college at the time.

They worked because it was early 1980's.
Parents dropped off the kids for a week. Aged under 18. Grouped by ages.
They were one-week long and you camped out in dorms.
It wasn't just day gaming and then go home at night.
It was an overall experience for the week. Sun up toil sun down.

Same as baseball, basketball, cheerleader, band, or recreation camps except no Bill murray as a councilor (meatballs). Arts, crafts, gaming, seminars, special guests, autographs, 3 meals a day, snacks, dorm or girl/boy scout camp housing, scarey stories at night--
"If I roll anything but a 1 on a d20 my holy avenger vorpal sword of dragon slaying and ubber coolness makes it's saving throw and is not destroyed. I got the sowrd from thor after I beat him arm wrestling"
..... long pause.....little jimmy says "well what happened?"
"I rolled a one"
....everyone jumpss....eek....
As scary as it gets.

We still have gaming camps. They are just 3-4 days instead of a  week long and they invite all ages. Gaming conventions. Gaming, paint and take, role playing, larps, ccgs and miniatures, guests and seminars, computer gaming, social electronic gaming (rock band), and board games. Campers got older and the gaming got much much bigger.

Great posting heather!
A camp to work on the same lines as the past would have to be rock band. Get a musician guest or 2, stage set up like we had at sheraton, special effects  & lighting, skins and other exclusives, have indivisual and group costume contests, seminars and noob help, awards including "newcomer", etc. Food breaks and downtime.
Basicaslly a Rock Band boot camp.

Interesting idea, but it would require a lot of staff support using a 'camp' format.  Not that this is a bad thing.
