--Since we charge for our convention we cannot show a convention advertised movie without paying a fee (which is based on attendance). If Kristin can get them to allow us to show it for free (since Looney Labs is doing the official game) then great.
We had that issue come up last convention because of haters. I talked to a few of the companies friday of gamex. I used the "any and everyone in the hotel or walking in off the street can watch any shown movie for free" and it worked short term but with haters and competitors around we have to cover our butts on any movie we advertsie in our con book.
--Gateway will have Pre-register vip packages (which include swag bags, vip meet-n-greet, and much much more. Norm will give the rundown when it is complete and on the site)
This also includes rolling out the red carpet for our special guests and having staff and vip meet and greet them fri night. From the time all special guests get off the plane til they are put back on a plane they will feel like special guests "celebs" at a major convention that is glad to have them. Guests who get the red carpet treatment tell other guests, their fans, and post on their site about how great it was to be at our con.
--When I spoke to Kristin and Andy at Gama about being guests they sold themselves on being fun and entertaining guests (as if I already didn't know they are awesome guests at a con). She showed me the postcard and it is something that would benefit us both. We should have Eric D. contact Looney Labs and work out putting a marketing message on their postcards (cost, what message he wants for our conventions, etc).
Looneys also mentioned pre-releasing Back to the Future Game at our convention. Are they planning on doing that still? That would be a big bonus for our convention.
This is great! Looney Labs rocks a game room.
Besides fluxx their game "Are you the traitor?" is very fun and will also attract the "are you a werewolf?" crowd as well.
I am excited about them at Gateway. Tie-dye, lava lamps, and labcoats.
Awesome!. Thanks for the update Eric.

In fact I had a great talk with Kristin Looney today about this subject today. We laid out all the big events and there are some exciting things we can do.
* Back to the Future Game - This new game is going to press now. Kristin gave me links to a description and some great artwork to use. They'll bring plenty of the game so we can run an event (Neil - it is similar to Chrononauts and I also have a link with details to help run this event).
* Also on Back to the Future, I asked her about a Universal contact that might okay us showing the movie in tandem with the event. She said they might ask for a fee there...but then they might also comp it and support the event. She asked if we want her to talk to them or just run the event ourselves and perhaps run the movie 'under the table'. I think we should have her contact them. It would be awesome if they support it! And if they don't - well, we can't show the movie...
* Pirate Fluxx - They'll be doing playtesting for it, which is also being done at Origins and GenCon.
* Fluxx and Are You The Traitor events - She gave me some terrific links for ways to run these events.
* Special promo card - Kristin has promo Fluxx cards that we can get for the attendees. She could provide a thousand if we want to give them away to everyone. She also said a marketing message could be out on the back (it's a postcard) if we wanted to pay for the printing. These would be nice to hand out to everyone - she asked if we do a bag (maybe we should consider that...again)
* Andy versus Everyone (as you RJ mentioned) - We should host this on Saturday and I think this would be fun to have in the foyer. Kristin said it works best in nice, visible spot. Talk about Play With The Creator!
* Kristin loved the idea of doing a Looney-a-thon - like we've done with RGG, Z-Man, and others.
She did want to make sure that the retailers stock plenty of their games. She said their events really drive sales (and all their games are pretty much impulse buys.
Still working with Tom on which events we'll run for him.

I hear they are having a cool Exhibitors Hall at the convention... but I may be mistaken (I saw no mention on the flier!)
