I don't know if this will work here, but it worked great at a convention in
 Toledo/Cleveland I helped run.

Exhibitors were given 2 sign-up choices, arrive/set-up prior to 5pm
Thursday (convention was Thursday thru Sunday) and arrive/set-up after 5pm
Thursday. The Exhibitor's Hall was also split up between the 2 times, with the
arriving before 5pm in the front of the Hall. We opened up the Exhibitor's
Hall at 5pm and blocked off the back area so the others could set-up without
being bothered too much.

I doubt we could do that at the Radisson, as this needs a back entrance for
exhibitors, but we could do it at the Sheraton.....? A lot of exhibitors
actually liked this because getting ready for the convention they basically
shut down on Thursday anyway, so they would head out early, get set-up, get
dinner, and be back to open their booth and make early sales at 5pm.

Loving the boiler plate idea. I think I need a ground-up rework, maybe
for the February Con.

What happened was I went through it to highlight all the "change"
sections,
in a separate copy, so I would know what to hit, and their are dates and
names everywhere!

Another idea is to use a merge-macro type thing, which I think I can
handle.. but boiler plate easier.

Friday opening... initially not in favor of it. Many Exhibitors don't
even show up until 5PM or later, after their regular work, their drive
down, and/or stores close. Even the early birds are sometime still
working
at 5PM. There have been times were 10PM we are telling people they gotta
get out, we are tired... finish in morning! So besides Exhibitors having
to man the booths late (after a potential full days regular work and
setup), we would have people moving is stuff, cards, loose merchandise,
boxed stuff. Can't see it working out.

Then there are some who show up first thing Saturday - they might be
cheesed about the missed opportunity.

Something else we talked about was an earlier opening Saturday, even
9:30. There are so many events that start at 10AM, so we often open to a
handful of people who are rushing to get something and off to a game. It
funny how I see 20 people milling around between 9-10am, then open the
doors to 5 people!

Thanks for the help and input so far!

RJ
