[Deptheads] Gamex 2011 Guest - Ted Alspach?

RJ - Please DO NOT contact Ted with those questions. This is not the way you
approach a potential guest. We have standard message that goes out to these
guys when we invite them and it lets us set the terms of their attendance.
That is the way to do things. The issues you experienced at the last
convention were directly as a result of Rodger and Justin being invited
without our standard parameters. Thus, they asked for the world and we tried
unsuccessfully to give it to them. We'd rather be in a position to have them
ask for something that is a dealbreaker than to start with the dealbreaker.
I would appreciate if we could stop the free-for-all attitude about
scheduling VIPs. If you have a suggestion, go ahead and make it and we'll
contact them. Please review the messages when we discuss them if you want
insight into what we're doing with the VIPs (we already discussed Ted - I
know him quite well and we cannot get him to come down for Gamex - he won't
miss Kublacon to get on a plane and come here, folks). We're probably going
to get him out in 2012 since Gateway is already booked up. I know Gamex
seems light next to our last two cons but that is cost-containment and
scheduling issues. If Aldrich really wants another guest for May, let him
sound off and then give us some names and we'll see the viability. I think
it is a waste of time and energy this late in the game but I'll await Eric's
word.
