No one should be pointing fingers at anyone and no one is incorrect in
their suggestions I have read so far.

What we are going through people is a growing pains issue. I've seen it
before and it was bound to happen. We are at the point where people WANT to
come to our conventions to promote their product, and just wait until we hit
the 2000 attendance mark and manufactures want to start showing up again.
Who is a "person" GOH? Who is a "Company" GOH? What do we give a company vs.
a single person? Etc. and so forth.

Heather, Eric, Tim, RJ and all the other comments have valid points.
Question: How are Heather and Devi going to work out the details when we have 4
legitimate GOHs? They aren't, no one can without dropping the ball on
something.

What "IS" a GOH? What status do they have to ascend to? How many books must
they have written? I'll answer this one with one sentence: I have been GOH
at 2 conventions.

OK, with that background, let me throw this suggestion out that has been
brewing for a while. First of all, we need a plan. I talked with Zev after he
showed up as our guest, and he said he loved it and I could tell he felt
very well treated. I have not heard otherwise from any of our guests since
then, telling me that our VIP team have a good grasp of the issue and
understand what they are doing. What we need is for everyone involved (Heather,
Devi, Eric, Eric, Eric, etc.) to write down a CHECKLIST of what needs to be
done for guests. This would include things like flight schedule, hotel
reservation, convention dinner, demo/event/seminar schedule, autograph
signings, guest needs (food allergies, etc.)....everything someone would need to
know their first time doing it.

Second, appoint someone a Guest Coordinator. Give them a budget so they can
freely set-up the guest needs' as they go.

Third, if a department invites a guest, it becomes that department's
responsibility to look after the guest, using the coordinator's checklist. We
can have "guest volunteers" who go from department to department each
convention escorting guests as needed. I would LOVE to see each department have a
guest each convention. imagine a convention where Robyn brings in Rick
Priestly (Games Workshop), Micheal brings in RA Salvatore (D&D book author),
Victor brings in Johannes Walch (White Wolf -V:TES), and Eric (any of them)
brings in Bruce Campbell. While it would be obvious who would be the most
publicized, each is a GOH and a big player for their department's games.

I believe this is something we should construct the rest of this year for
use in 2012. Until then, I suggest having the VIP team escort 1 GOH, with
other guests being escorted by the department that invited them. THE LAST
THING WE WANT IS SOMEONE GOING HOME NOT HAPPY AFTER BEING INVITED AS A GUEST
AND TELLING THE GAMING COMMUNITY THEY HAD A BAD TIME.

John
