This is a good idea.
Showcase our guests and special events as well as give a sampling of the variety that is going on at the convention. Wargames bootcamp, rock band, demos, are you a werewolf, larps, laughing moon, charity events, magic the gathering, large scale miniature events, miniature events, costume contest, tour of the library, seminar peek ins, painting contest and art show, and plenty of shots of boardgaming in the ballroom and visits to the hot games being played.
Show people all that they are missing...we offer alot. Something to appeal to anyone so get off the couch and come join the fun.
One of my goals this con is to take 20+ pictures from every area. This includes pics of all the guests running events, pics from the special events, gaming, larping, and pics of participants drinking monster energy drinks. I post the pics as well as use them for my strategicon notebook that I show to companies while at gamma and other shows. And I will upload pics from the con each day.
The streaming is a great idea as well as podcasts from the con. Twitter each day. Facebook updates personal and strategicon page. All of this is beneficial.

I think we should do this...
Anyone have any objections?
Jason, will this interfere with what you need to do?
Comments, questions?

If we can get wireless or wired access, I can bring a webcam,
set up a USStream account for the con and broadcast the
demos/Bruno events. We'll set it up so that space so others can
also bring over people to demo there. We can get Roger, Justin
and maybe others over to demo/show stuff off. That way, I can
kind of emcee it a bit (and I'll get others with the skills to
help).
We can also upload
videos from other parts of the con that was walk around and
broadcast.
This could be really
cool but we should make the decision to support it quickly so
we can promote it.

Eric B.,
What kind of internet access do you need Eric? We will
have it in Video Games both Sat & Sun. Do you need a
real time feed, or something we can download right after
it is taped?
Let me know what you need so we can make this happen.

I love the idea of doing a live webcast and
was part of those from BGG.con and Essen recently. If we
can get the internet access, we'd be happy to stream
(USStream is probably the best site) from the convention.
We can get various demos on the screen, chat about some of
the new games and post videos of the more eye-catching
events.
Eric - what do you say?

Hi all,
HMGS/PSW (Historical
Miniature Gaming Society/ Pacific Southwest)
is gearing up to once again support the return
of miniature wargaming to the Strategicon
events. At this time there are 14-15 events on
the miniatures list put on by HMGS/PSW
members! I want to thank Eric, Tim, and Robyn
for helping to make our participation easy. We
have been putting out the word round the clock
about the return of great miniatures gaming
(both historical and non-historical) to these
cons. You can check out some of our write ups
at our site, www.HMGS/PSW.org we also
have you listed on our upcoming events
calendar as well as prominent links to your
Strategicon site. This is the info age and the
young players use it! I watched closely the
"Smackdown" event and one thing they have
right is this use of the information stream.
They have a slick site, facebook, twitter, and
the coolest thing they had was live (almost)
feed from the convention floor. This has the
effect of not only making the event seem
special but drawing people out of the house on
the spur of the moment to cruise down and
become part of the action. HMGS/PSW recently
put up some how too videos on both our site
and utube. They received more positive
comments than anything we have ever written
and took 1/100 the time!
My point is that you have a four day
convention and some timely interviews / game
reports might motivate some of those stay at
homers to make it down when they see what their
missing. It also give you a living record of the
fun one can have that pictures do not convey.
Well here's to a great con!

[Deptheads] Guide to Good GMing
Hey Y'all,
Folks on BGG have been asking me for advice
about how to run tournaments for years. It
seemed like I should at least offer some advice
to our own volunteers. Take a look at the
geeklist I made and let me know if there are any
other thoughts or suggestions you might have.
Here's the link: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/64110/strategicon-guide-to-good-gming
Thanks!
