For the CLASSIFICATION see below:

Demo - Is a demonstration of a game which is intended to introduce 
players to the system. Often it is a teaching tool to allow players to 
learn a popular game or a way to demonstrate a new game to players.

  Event - Is the default game run at the con. Whether it is a game run 
by a single person, multiple people or a group such as HMGS/PSW most of 
what goes on at the con falls into this category

  Special - Can be a game or tournament or something out of the ordinary 
that is getting special notice. For example, this con Broadside Bash is 
running WHFB, W40K and LotR Grand Tournaments; Happy Jack and Board Game 
Babylon are doing podcasts with an audience; and the Laughing Moon folks 
will be running their interactive RPG complete with gypsies. All of 
these things are large productions and provide an experience that is 
above and beyond the normal game or tournament and are listed as special 
events on our home page

  Sponsored - Is a game sponsored by a manufacturer, designer, group, 
etc. Prizes are provided for the most part by the sponsoring entity

Tournament - Is a tournament in any size.

The above are very general guidelines that I sent to a gentleman who 
asked the same question you did.Hea
