[Deptheads] Gateway Special Events?

John,
That was before my time. The interactive we are running is a convention/public-play only event. And to get the interactiveness, you need the amount of tables we are having at Gateway (10+). We offered 3 round events at the last two conventions that last from 9 am until 11 pm for our EPIC play (levels 21 and 22) that drew people, but these were events anyway could play anywhere. The RPGA has gone to a mostly open-play model to get as many players all over the world to play. There is no more region-specific play.
Also, there is no real competition or reward game offered this year that we could offer at the convention. They have the D&D championships yearly, but that is a Gencon-only event. That is one of the reasons we brought Iron GM to Gamex. We crowned a champion last weekend that will be representing us at Gencon in August.
Bottom line, the interactive we are offering in addition to all the new content we will have for September will be a big draw, but there is no Gateway-only 3-part event that we could offer from the RPGA.

Mickey,
Back in the 90's, I used to get some RPGA adventures that were 3 part and
made specifically for the convention. With the current format (i.e. politics) of
the RPGA, would it be possible to get something like that for our conventions?
We could have a 3 part adventure with Part 1 running Friday night, Part 2
Saturday afternoon, and Part 3 on Sunday morning, then have an award ceremony
Sunday night for the best players (who solved the problem best, who was voted
best player at their table the most, whatever).
just seems to me with what I've seen that this would be a real special
event for RPGA players and put our cons on their radar just for these
events.

LFR Battle Interactive: ADCP3-2 From Dawn Till Dusk
Netheril has taken over Spellgard – Saharelgard, as
they name it now – and are controlling its oracle, the lady Saharel. With
reinforcements on the way, soon the pass will be closed and the secrets of the
fortress are theirs. Only a 12 hour window is left to liberate Saharel and
prevent the Shades from achieving a major victory. A Living Forgotten Realms
2-round continuous-play battle interactive set in Netheril for adventurers of
level 1 - 20. This adventure is combat-intensive. It is recommended that at
least three of the characters be members of the same Adventuring
Company.

Battle of Midway. This event will be a double blind
using the General Quarters rules in 1:700 scale. Each force will have a
central command area that will be plotting ship and scout movement, Fleet
command who will control fleet formations and defense, and Air Marshall who
will control the air attacks. This will be a true double blind event with
special guest Lonnie Gill, the designer of General Quarters.
