This is solicitation from a convention center for us to add a show there or move one or more shows to their venue.
Melanie schaad is the sales manager for the Tacoma washington convention center (home to many huge magic the gathering and pokemon national events). They are used to hosting game conventions.
Since Strategicon has 3 conventions (orcon , gamex, and gateway) Strategicon will be solicited to "Strategicon presents" conventions in other areas. I guess we can thank Conquest for that since they tried a total west coast run
from san diego to vegas to oregon and washington to arizona, etc.(Epic Fail).
As Eric Nyquist said...we already do 3 cons a year so why not 4, 5 or 6? in jest. (2 cons a year , feb and sept, 6 months a part, would be best in my opinion and less burnout).
Many conventions change venue (like we have) so they are making sure we have their "business card". We are being wooed like top high school athletes being "convinced" to attend their university.
It's a good thing. The hard work and dedication of staff and vols the past 5 years has rebuilt the strategicon brand and gave it polish and reputation that extends beyond the LA area.
Now we get rates from tacoma to use when we negotiate rates with sheraton (or another venue) in 2013. Sheraton will see several other places compete to get our business (which is 3 guaranteed 4-day shows a year).

>>Hi there,
>>I was just looking over your website and would love the opportunity to communicate with you about the different conventions you hold. I work for the Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center in Washington State. We have over 100,000 sq feet of meeting space including our 50,000 sq ft exhibition hall. We have several hotels within walking distance to the Convention Center and plenty of restaurants in the downtown area (all within walking distance).
>>
>>We have been host to the Magic Grad Prix events and they are potentially going to book their event with us annually. We have also held the Washington State Pokémon Championship tournament as well as the Washington State Elementary Chess Championships which had a turnout of over 6,000 people over 2 days.
>>
>>I think we might be a perfect fit for some of your events.
>>
>>I look forward to speaking with you about what the Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center and Washington has to offer.
>>
>>Thanks so much,
>>Melanie

"Would you like another drink, sir?" asked the bartender.
"I think not," replied Descartes, and promptly vanished.
