[Deptheads] Annual Awards Issue

Before I start, please send all correspondence regarding this topic to me, tmaldrich at gmail.com and not the list.

I'm sending this to the list, because we are running out of time to get the awards together.

For all those involved with the Boardgame department, this may be your problem.

For years now I've been putting together the Annual Awards. Each year the process becomes more convoluted (yes, it's not just me).

2011 is the epitome of the issue.

I have been asking people in Boardgames and Payouts to get the categories on to the payout sheet.
Since Payouts is only around for the con, it falls to Boardgames to make sure the data is there, and I guess the communicating with Payouts hasn't been clear enough. I don't know how Payouts gets their base data, but one thing is clear, the payout sheet has a column marked Category (Orccon and Gamex) hidden and with nothing in it. And the "Boardgames" tab, which I assume is the master boardgames list, which lists some of what I'd consider categories in the same field as the "Title - Game System". First, I have no way to effectively separate that data since it is inconsistent, second, I have no way to effectively merge that data into the Payouts data.

So, I have an excel spreadsheet with the raw annual awards data waiting for the categories.

Someone needs to enter the categories for each game.

Once that is done and sent back to me, I will do the breakdown and point assignment (unless someone else wants to do it).

Until this is done, there will be no Annual Awards for 2011.
