We did Playtester's Corner the last couple of cons - it was more low-key at
Orccon because Norv Brooks, who normally runs it, wasn't around. It was
quite robust at Gateway.
I told Norv and David Mines that we could run it this con if they wanted
and advised them to put their events on the schedule so they would get
mention rather than just organizing among themselves. They're there now and
I told they we could probably work out prizes or Small tournament payouts
for their games to encourage people to play. Steve Jones from Blue Panther,
a perennial supporter of our SoCal Playtesters, offered to give out
discounts on Blue Panther products to participants as well.
This all came together in the last week so I'm a bit behind on laying it
all out. Sorry - work's been killing me.
Anyway, I'll write to Andrea. I'm sure we can add some of their events to
the schedule and treat them the same way. If we can't afford to designate a
room for the Playtester's Corner they are very happy to just run their
events in the main BG room and I figured if it comes to that, we can put
them on the side near the library and VIP/demo tables with Borg, Jolly and
AEG. They actually liked more exposure in the big room. Plus, we have the
Q&A event on game design with Borg and Jolly as well (which the playtesters
will all attend). I can only think this event will appeal to the students
as well.
I'll write a message (heck, copy and paste some of this one) to Andrea.
