Read the last line of the original email:

"...or am I overreacting because I'm one of the people that was 
antagonized by his shirts?"

Politics at the moment is a hot button for a lot of people.  If you 
"gore someone's sacred ox" they get angry about it.  I figure anyone of 
the opposite party probably found the shirt inappropriate, but would be 
all for it if the shirt was saying "Hurray for our side!"

If it was truly offensive I suspect Reg or Robyn would have heard something.

Shane, you might ask the gentleman for an example of what was 
offensive.  I wonder why he didn't say something at the time.
