[Deptheads] Missing Board Games, and what to do about it

Mike's hit the head on the nail. Board Games no longer allows 'TBD' games
- before we will schedule a game, a GM must step up to run it. We are
happy to consider game suggestions, and we know some games are popular and
traditional, but if no one will run it (and we do inquire among our lists
of known GMs), it will not appear.

I believe much of the issue here is the desire to win dealer dollars - the
GM is not allowed to claim dealer dollars from his own game. As a result,
everyone wants to play the game, but no one wants to take responsibility
for running it, even when the duties of GM are minimal (as they often are
for board games).

Possible ways around this:

- Talk to the company. If they're willing to send reps to GM their games,
everyone wins - more visibility for the company and the game, more feedback
for game designers, more gaming opportunities for players, more games for
our schedule!
- Share the pain. If several people want to play in Steve Jackson games,
for example, each of them can agree to run a different one. Remember, 8
hours of running games gets you in free. That still leaves you with 44
hours to earn dealer dollars. Do your share, and everyone can benefit.

And don't forget about open gaming. I saw at least three open games of
WizWar at Gateway (if I weren't on duty, I'd have jumped in on one of
them). A game doesn't have to be scheduled to play it - if you don't care
about dealer dollars, at least...
