I think it might be wise to  make an exception for the games Dang runs.  In a way they are like role-playing games.
His games take more commitment to run and play are basically like the rpgs. 
When Dang runs his epic version of Arkham Horror with ALL the expansions it seems completely ridiculous to expect him to not limit the players. 


Since the RPGs have limits and it is first come first serve, it doesn't seem out of the ordinary to have a few of the board game run like this as well.

Hi Dang,

    The choice is yours.  If you want to play one game and limit the number of players to 8, than this would be considered a "private" game.  Its the equivalent to putting a flag up in open gaming and asking players to join you.  If, on the other hand, you are willing to let as many players join you as want to play, fill out the appropriate paperwork, and play more than one round, if necessary, than you will be running a "public" event or tournament.
    Now, TI3E is somewhat special, since it has a history of drawing only 7 or 8 players, requiring only one game to determine the winner of the event or tournament.  Let me know what you would like to do with your event.

Shane, I don't fully understand this. As described I fall into this category with my Twilight Imperium game. I have an 8 hour slot with a limit of 8 players max. The game can't accommodate more than this so this means if I have more than 8 people show up I have to run more than 1 game?
