[Deptheads] Orccon & LAFD

Tim, I'm sure the hotel has some kind of guideline as to what type of tape is permitted on their carpets. I'd like to get some to have on hand so that we can respond quickly if anyone notices a loose cord anywhere or at least demonstrate to the FD that we are prepared to do so. I can pick it up, but I need to know if we can use duct tape or if we need something specific. Ken

    A reminder to everyone...

There is every chance that the LA Fire Department will do a walk
through of the convention during Orccon.

We have already had some issues with where tables will be allowed
and some layouts have changed. That being said they will be on the
    look out for the following:

Microwaves, hotplates, coffee pots (the dealer's room coffee pot is
Ok), etc anything used to cook food or generate heat on the
convention floor. No one should be eating a meal at any of the HQ's
to begin with. If you have any of these things, leave them in your
room. They will not be permitted to be used in any of the public
space that we occupy for the convention.

Exits and fire corridors. These should never be blocked, but
especially now. That long hallway, which bypasses the Grand
Ballroom (board games) and connects the flea market area to the
California Foyer (dealer's room) is not a playing area. Werewolf,
cash ad Guns, etc will not be allowed to play there. Any staff
member who sees games in this area needs to tell them to move.asap.

No one should be moving tables. This goes back to the item above.
We need to keep six foot passage ways to the exits at all times. If
you see anyone moving tables, explain the rules to them and have
    them put the tables back.

Be sure your cords, cables or Ethernet cables are under a cord
protector, rug or taped down securely, so no one can trip over
    them.

We need to err on the side of caution. The LAFD can shut us down
rather than have us correct the problem (it is their choice). Last
month they did just that to a law enforcement training seminar (the
one we had scheduling conflicts with at Orccon 2012) at the
    Sheraton.

If you have any questions, please ask me.
