I'm fine either way. My staff and i were discussing merchandise for our part of marketing and dice came up. Not necessary, but an idea.

>The dice are only special for volunteers if the only way to get them is via volunteering. We discussed this on this list. Different colors still dimiss the "special" aspect of the dice if you can buy them in the dealer's room.
>Dice color preference is different for each individual so the dealer's room dice color would be prefrerred by several volunteers over what they got as a perk....and thus diminishing the perk since the only difference in the perk dice and buying the dice is color...and they can now put a price on their perk since it is available for purchase in another color (which they may prefer). Then someone will ak if they can swap their perk dice for the on-sale ones. Color becomes the perk not the dice themselves.
>That said....dice would sell. They are a cheap sovenir and everyone can use dice. We can even sell a full set for the year at Gateway. Several vols/staff who get perk dice will want to buy the 3rd dice available for that con to complete their set. Just realize if we put dice on sale the cool factor of the dice as a perk is greatly diminished--vols aren't the only ones getting dice...just the only ones getting a specific color style. We change the perk from being exclusive dice to merely being exclusive colors. And for dice that is no biggie since dice are cheap and colors are subjective. A purple laker jersey as a perk and a yellow laker jersey for sale are the same except the cost of buying the jersey is so high the perk is awesome...the exclusive color is

>The issue is we have several people saying they would order the dice and when the convention comes we have dice shortage or no dice ordered at all.
>All perks come from a perk budget and as much as we would like to reward all the hard working volunteers with lots of things--we can't. If I could I would send registration and payouts to a spa and massage. Dice are affordable.
>Those ordering dice should announce so, and those wanting to get dice can add to those orders (ie. miniatures can ask shane to order 20 additional dice for them).

That way we give the volunteers something they can't get anywhere else, people can get cool dice in the dealer room, and we can offset the cost of the dice. Chessex allows 5 different styles for large orders like this, so I can add 50 or 100 dice and get a third style for the dealer room.

>Your choice.....we were talking about getting some of the dice order to sell to compensate for the cost of the dice. If you want to get an extra 50 or so we'll take them in the Dealer's Room to sell in pairs and get back some of the costs. If you want to make it just for GMs that's fine too....just a cost saving option.
