[Deptheads] Fix the event problem we think

I added the event just fine, but when I went in to the Approvals screen and denied it, it seemed to hang there.

Could someone who is having the screen redraw problems when adding an event try 
adding one now -- we think we found and worked the problem. Seems email is 
broken internally as well
