[Deptheads] Fw: Meeting on Sunday

Given my skillset and what I spent the last two years studying, I'm fairly
confident I could create a guide. That being said, if you don't want one,
just pat me on the head and say, "Thanks, Kryssie. You're cute." Don't
tell me why something won't work as a reason for me to not try. Thanks!
See you in a few weeks!

Agreed.

A "Con Volunteer Guide" will be done eventually and be basic (be on time or
early, hygene, non-offensive attire while on-duty, keep language
appropriate to the group of people around you, etc.) but even then each
department will still have it's own volunteer requirements and guidelines
since each dept. is unique, has different requirements for
their volunteers, and run by a different staff person(s).
Example--Registration, video games, dealer's room, rpgs, auctions, and
library all have different requirements and guidelines, some handle money,
some reuire lots of prep before con, some handle vendors and guests, and
each is well run. Strategicon Video games room guides and requirements are
on their facebook page and chris and jason are in constant communication
there with vols. We really need to get an active forum going for
strategicon. There we can have a volunteer section and sticky a
guideline. If we need to we can always put guidelines on the webpage under
volunteer section. But we do need a more active forum. Take better
advantage of social media.

Yeah, John is right... Con book is not the place for it.

This would be best served with a "Con Volunteer Guide" ... something we
have been needing to do anyway. Putting it in the con book asks for
problems.

Got a couple of good suggestions from Travis. Can the fire guidelines be
put in the con book? The more places people see it, the more likely
everyone will get the message.

Is the booklet for con already completed? If not, could the guidelines be
put in there?
Another idea could be putting the guidelines into the volunteer guides that
are given out so that all the GM's and BGHQ volunteers would know. Then it
would spread by word of mouth, and the GM's would know what to watch for as
well. BGHQ will still have to do patrols, bu it should make it easier on
all parties concerned. =]
