[Deptheads] Banned game "The Assassination Game" - revisiting an idea

I remember "Killer" by steve Jackson . We were playing that in college dorm in 1981. They had to ban it because it was too disrupotive. Put a starlight mint into someone soda and a note underneath that says "you have been poisoned". Or disconnect their car battery and when they look under the hood it has a sign that says "boom, you are dead". I am sure Eric A.. Paiva, and many others here have played.
At conventions TAG, killer, etc. became distractions. Very fun games but you always had that handful of players that got wild.

If you have a rule-set in mind that allows for safe zones (participating a game, participating in a larp, talking to payouts, flea market, sitting at a seminar, painting at paint-n-take, in dealers room shopping, etc)  as well as no running, no use of props that look like weapons (use cards for guns etc) then I see no problems with trying it again at Gateway.

I know that "The Assassination Game" (or TAG, for short) has been banned from the convention for excessive disruption (kids running around with toy guns is not a good mental image, after all). Would it be worth opening a discussion about this with rules set up to minimize disruption among the convention? I've got a rule-set in mind that should help keep the disruption to a minimum, and absolutely prevent kids running through the halls (any more than they already do, anyway).

Just for clarification, I'm not talking about doing this at Gamex - there's too little lead time on it. I'm considering doing it at Gateway.

"Would you like another drink, sir?" asked the bartender.
"I think not," replied Descartes, and promptly vanished.
