Au contraire mon ami

"temporary interference" = This is not a permanent intrusion

"benign" = no hidden agenda and for the greater good

"achieve a goal" = in this case the goal is to have traditional cards up and running again or have them die out.

I interpret this as follows:

"temporary interference" = political shannanigans

"benign" = lazy

"achieve a goal" = make it look like they're fixing a problem without actually having to do anything

I cannot stop laughing at this...

Shane,

It is not its own department, think of it as an area of interest that we are trying to build up again. See below for the answers to your specific questions.

Good afternoon,

    So, a few questions regarding the new Card Games Department:

Who is responsible for creating/checking/submitting the paperwork?

-->Board Games

Do different types of forms need to be created?

-->No

Who is responsible for editing/approving the events?

-->You are

Does boardgames need to create flags for these events?

-->Yup

Does boardgames need to provide ribbons for these events?

-->Ribbons yes, we are still working on the “prizes”

Is John going to be the GM for all these events (i.e. picking up paperwork, setting up tables, keeping track of winners, filling out and submitting paperwork when the event is over)?

-->If we don’t find anyone else to GM, yes.

  I am also curious as to why card games needs to be its own department. Traditional card games has been a part of boardgames for years, going back to when I worked for Jack Butler. The reason there have not been events the past few cons is that no one wanted to run them. If John wanted to run card game events, couldn't he have simply submitted these events like everyone else to the boardgames department?

-->Exactly

    I am bringing this up because I would like a clear understanding of what is expected of me with regards to this new department. I am concerned due to past experiences with the creation of the Wargames Department and the rocky start I had when it was created. I was told there was a new department with its own department head, budget, and schedule, yet I was responsible for the paperwork. Sound familiar? So this time, I would like things explained and clearly delineated before going forward.

-->There is no new department, think of it as temporary interference from your benign overloards to achieve a goal.

Shane Sauby

Boardgames Supervisor
