Hello all,
At my BGHQ Wrap Up meeting, the major issue discussed was GM recruitment.  I do not know how other departments are doing, but I have seen a steady decline in the number of GMs over the past couple of years.  My staff pointed out to me that we need some "new blood."  So, we brainstormed a bunch of ideas on how to increase awareness.  There were two ideas that everyone thought would be easy to implement and be effective.

The first idea is to put a blurb and Volunteer Page link on the Home Page and the Registration Page.  We have discovered that there is a decent amount of interest that is not getting tapped due to lack of knowledge.  So we would like people coming to the convention website, especially for the first time, to see that there are volunteer opportunities.  We thought the Home Page, which people go to first, and the Registration Page, where experienced convention attendees may link to directly, would be good places to let people know they can earn a free badge by running stuff for us.

The second idea was to include a similar request in our marketing information, especially our marketing e-mails.  A link to the volunteer page could be included, so when people open the e-mail they can go directly to the page and find out what they would need to do to volunteer and earn a badge.

It was suggested that links be included to contact me, since this was mainly for Boardgames, but I realized that other departments might have similar issues or be interested in trying to do the same thing, so I figure just a link to the volunteer page would work best.

Do these sound like reasonable/good ideas?  Would this be something we could implement before Gateway?
