[Deptheads] Meeting this Sunday?

I have said what John Paiva just said (and other cons around the globe have the same worries)..do not give people reason to sit home and role play online comfy without expense of hotel, driving, gas, parking, food, and crowds...especially now when some want to avoid being out in large gatherings (and some states like yours california disallow it). By July hopefuully we have a clearer image for september.
The other reality is people have seen they can play werewolf or rpg game on saturday from home and 1-day con from home scratched their itch. They also can con anywhere and not just local. They are not limited by location---online cons accommodate world wide. .Holiday weekend (like memorial, labor day, presidents, thanksgiving) several cons will be online. For sept our job will be getting people enthused coming out of the caves, seeing a safe environment, and the fun of in-person over making do at home.
Great job on virtual con. I was busy with vendors during weekend as angelica knows as i put her into a few convos. It kept people in touch and kept out brand in mind. With a physical con we can afford to do a free virtual con....but if gateway is cancelled we will have to look at charging for virtual gateway as we have to have money to run it. Gamex used funds from Orccon. Gateway expenses need a source of income. And it would be another 6 months before our physical con again (a year between physical cons).
That said...thanks for all you guys did. Extra thanks to tara, angleica, malakai, robert, Jim, and tanya
I will repeat what I said many years ago...we need to talk (like we just did above in this thread) without needing to wait for meetings.Talking here gets issues resolved immediately and archives it as if someone took notes so you dont miss any convo or info shared. Give your feedback just like at feedback seminar and thoughts. Share ideas. Troubleshooting guides. The meetings are wrapup of all the things discussed here and by phone calls, texts, in-person, emails, etc.We do a virtual con and embrace tech yet ignore tech for staying in touch about the con on daily basis....waiting and holding things til meetings.
Keep talking here even with meetings. I may or may not make sunday as I am beat from ambulance runs and last sunday (Angelica i know is beat).PLEASE share thought here. In fact the day after cons we can start doing this. Also note --for majority of people this is easiest way to get info (and if they miss meetings they come here to get notes from it)

thanks again everyoneYou rocked and were awesom and made peopel smile

 Hi all,
Just for the record, Malakai agrees with Tara to keep the conversation about the website for the upcoming meeting. However, he would still like to be present as communication and being on the same page is also key the next con’s success. I hope that he is still welcome to join this Sunday.

I totally hear what you're saying, John, and I agree. Honestly, virtual con made me miss physical con so much! It was nice to check in on attendees and hear their voices, especially people I have been gaming with for years! But let's be honest about our feelings, and make sure virtual con is just a bandaid to get us all through until physical con is possible again. It's what we do best, and we can't wait to get back to doing it.

This con (and MAYBE next) we had/have no choice but to have a virtual con.
While you talk about future con plans remember it has been a struggle the past 20 years to get people to spend $300-$500, put on pants, and go to a convention instead of sitting at home playing Everquest.
Dont promote future virtual cons, promote how exciting it will be to be back at a real con.

I brought this up to Jim, Mike, and Eric A. during Gamex, that maybe we should do a post-con meeting while the convention is still fresh, but of course it would be best to get everyone's buy-in. Are you all down for a post-con meeting this Sunday at noon PST, same Bat Time, same Bat Channel? We should celebrate the successes of the weekend, talk about what we can do better, and discuss what we needed and found we didn't need, etc. Let us know if this works for you and if we can count you in, or if you'd prefer a different day. Whenever we do it, I will take entertaining notes. Someone should take good ones. ;)
Excellent job taking a physical con online, everybody. It was good to hear our regular attendees' voices and see how they were doing. <3
Best,
