[Deptheads] Interesting update on Dundracon's website regarding volunteers

No.Someone can correct me if i am wrong but I remember california stating in 2020 only non-profit can have volunteers. It was appealed in 2021 and that is why san diego comic con, other gaming and fandom conventions including Gallifrey next to us, have no issues since we all compensate volunteers--badges, rooms, parking, perks, etc.
Dundra had volunteers pay first and reimbursed the badges later. As a for-profit you cannot do that anymore. You can compensate upfront with badges, rooms, parking, etc. Just don't have people buy their own badges then reimburse them later (unless they already purchased a badge before deciding to volunteer).
"Hiring" a 3rd party to provide you with "crew" is what Dundra and some others have done. Same thing but that "company" is responsible for your compensation, upkeep, etc as they are "hired" to provide workers. Basically going to a website to click and sign that you work for X (a non-profit) who will have you do work at Y convention (and the website will usually state you will be reimbursed the cost of your  badge once you have completed the required hours you are assigned (signed off by a supervisor). Better to just give people badges and beds upfront.
The issue being debated as we speak is worker vs volunteer (for liability etc). But for now we are Golden same as San diego comic con and others.Shane is probably more familiar with it than myself.

Are we worried about similar issues?
