<html><head><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"></head><body dir="auto"><div>Registration for Artemis does not open until the convention opens. There is no pre reg. The web based registration is a multifold purpose. First, it allows for convention attendees to see exactly when games are running, be they every half hour or hour, without spamming the printed convention schedule, so that they may attempt to plan accordingly. It also allows me to make additions to the schedule, time permitting and I am physically and mentally up for. Second, it allows for "fairness" in registration for the event as there have been many attempts to camp in the room and play in every game that runs, reducing the number of overall players. This is much more common than I think most people realize. I do allow for camping though, so that if we do not have enough people, those that want to put in the time and effort to come back for every game will get last shot to fill in the empty spaces, but even that is based on the number of times they have played. Third, due to the fact that there are only six positions each half hour or hour session, as the case may be, and it is not unheard of that those who pre-reg for events do not make their games or even show up to the con when they plan to, the badge number registration limits the likelihood that there will be those who have not actually arrived claiming spaces that will never be taken, discouraging other people from signing up for a sessions that they could otherwise actually get into. Fourth, it allows for control over the removal of names from the signups in a fair order, without the possibility of others crossing out names just to put their own on the list (and that has happened, as well). And finally, the web based signup list gives not only the attendees the opportunity to see when they have signed up and to signup or remove themselves from their phones while they are in another section of the convention, but most importantly, it allows me, or my staff, to quickly and fairly take roll, record who is playing, and get the game started as close to on time as possible, all without blocking the registration list from those that want to signup. Additionally, I can answer questions about schedule openings, when people have played, how often, and block people from signing up that have caused problems (yes, that has happened as well).</div>
<div><br></div><div>Because I do not have access to the conventions attendee list, this badge number uniqueness, (which is NOT the same as the registration number on the website) is the best and easiest compromise I have found to come up with for signing up (as well as it being required for paper based signup sheets around the convention as well).</div>

I notice there's a separate web page for signing up for Artemis sessions, and it seems to work based on my badge number. I don't know what my badge number is. The "Your Badges" section of the web site doesn't list any badges for me (presumably because I have a
special GM badge rather than a regular preregistration).<br clear="none">

It would be nice if there were some way for me to see how many people have preregistered for my events, so I have a vague idea of how popular they are and can make last-minute plans to, for example, bring extra copies of a particular game. In the past, I've found that most players do not preregister, so this would probably not be a very accurate way of gauging interest, but it still might be helpful.<br clear="none">
