[Strategicon-announce] Orccon 2022 is next week!

In just eight days Strategicon will host Orccon 2022 at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport, our first live Orccon since 2020, on Presidents Day weekend February 18 through February 21.

Stay with us at the LAX Hilton! With the Rams in the Super Bowl the room situation eased a bit and the deadline has been extended until February 11 to get the convention rate. Right now all nights are available, but that won't last long, so book yours soon for best selection.

We still need volunteers for all sorts of things. Run games, help with the family area, work the registration desk, whatever — we need people to make a live convention happen. If interested in getting in for free in exchange for 8 hours works please sign up at www.strategicon.net/?volunteer

Long-time industry artist and designer Dan Smith is our Special Guest this show. He even drew the art for the T-Shirt! Dan will be wandering around Orccon causing his usual brand of mischief -- if you see him please say hello!

We've added several Magic: the Gathering events throughout the run of the convention. Multiple Draft, Sealed and Commander events, as well as the return of Saturday night/Sunday morning midnight Magic. We're also hosting several Yu-Gi-Oh events (including sponsored tournaments!) and even a Vampire: the Eternal Struggle tournament.

Our "Paint and Take" instructional miniatures painting lessons return. We provide everything -- paints, miniatures, and know-how. Open to all ages! When you're done with your masterpiece you can enter it in ...

The Strategicon Painting Contest returns! Several categories, including some for beginning and junior painters. Judging on Sunday.

Video Games is hosting several classic arcade tournaments including Street Fighter 2 and Darkstalkers!

We have hundreds of games of all genres -- too many to list here. This includes Dungeons & Dragons, GURPS, Warhammer 40k, Battlestations 2.0, Werewolf, Ticket to Ride, Power Grid, Circvs Maximvs, the return of Vampire the Masquerade LARPs, Pathfinder, over 100 different board games, and a whole lot more.

For those that like to shop we have over 40 vendors in our dealer room. Many old favorites along with some fresh faces. A wide variety of games and game-related paraphernalia for every type of gamer. We also have the Strategicon Flea Market and the Strategicon Game Auction. Here you can find that missing gem for your collection or possibly clear your closet of your surplus games.

Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic we request that if at all possible attendees be vaccinated, and that includes children 5 to 11 this show. Los Angeles county also currently has an indoor mask mandate even though the state is relaxing theirs. Our policy with respect to COVID-19 can be found here: www.strategicon.net/?covid19_policy.
