[Strategicon-announce] Two weeks until Gamex 2024!

Strategicon presents our second show of 2024 — Gamex 2024 at the Los Angeles Airport Hilton over Memorial Day weekend (Friday, May 24th - Monday, May 27th). Preregistration for the show and events ends by end of day Monday May 20th, so don't miss out!

Gamex 2024 has sold out the hotel! The show is going to be huge! So huge that we still need a few volunteers for all sorts of things. Run games, help with the family area, work as a gofer, whatever — we need people to make a live convention happen. The Gamex 2024 schedule is packed with more than 700 events — so many events that we cannot possibly list them all here. Highlights include:

Important Update! Gamex is once again hosting a Catan qualifier tournament for the National Catan Championship. The event starts on Sunday at 1 pm. Participants will play three games and those with the best records will qualify for the Finals on Sunday night. The winner will get an invitation to the National Championship Event that will be held in Minneapolis Minnesota hosted by Catan Studio. Note that this is a change from prior years and what we announced in a previous email.

Embrace the path of Jedi or Sith! Conquer your opponents base and claim victory in Star Wars: Unlimited, the newest CCG from your favorite franchise. Tournaments happening all weekend long and helpful people to show you how to play in the La Jolla Ballroom on the second floor.

The Power Grid World tour returns this year with trips to India, Australia, and the UK + Ireland.

Special Guests include Tuck Davion, creator of the YouTube series "Battle Bound" and who will be running multiple Battletech events, Kimi Hughes designer and publisher of the ENnie award winning Decuma and who will be debuting her new Starscape (Powered by the Apocalypse) game Saturday and Sunday, Sidney Icarus, the author of the 2023 award-winning Decaying Orbit, and long-time game designer/developer/publisher Frank Zazanis whose works include Kings Ransom, Journey Stones, Project Mars, The Hunt, Gem Rush, and many many more.

Jason Mills is proudly débuting his game Demigods, fresh off Kickstarter. He will be signing copies of his game on Saturday (May 25th) starting at 1 pm in the Games on Demand area in the lower lobby.

On Monday we're hosting a massive recreation of the Long Beach Gran Prix using Formula De. Come see if you can add your name to our Perennial Award Plaque for years of bragging rights!

Play-to-Win is excited to host games by Renegade, Steve Jackson Games, and more, including some of our favorite Indie publishers! Play in a scheduled demo, or play on your own, and you will be entered into a drawing for the games you played with us ... winners announced at 4 pm on Sunday.

Paint your minis! Gamex offers our Paint and Take painting demonstration both Saturday and Sunday -- all materials provided. Want to learn to paint great minis in just minutes? Come on by!

We have hundreds of games of all genres -- too many to list here. In addition to the above, we also have our Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator, Magic: the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Werewolf, Ticket to Ride, Warhammer 40k, Dungeons & Dragons, GURPS, DCC, OSR, several other TLA's, over 100 different board games, miniatures games, RPGs, our miniature painting contest, and a whole lot more. We even have Fuzzy Heroes. Over 700 events and more are still being added.

For those that like to shop we have over 40 vendors in our dealer room. Many old favorites along with some fresh faces. A wide variety of games and game-related paraphernalia for every type of gamer. We also have the Strategicon Flea Market and the Strategicon Game Auction. Here you can find that missing gem for your collection or possibly clear your closet of your surplus games.
