I have consistently had problems finding people to work overnight
shifts at the Westin to guard the room all night. I won't consider
making LARPers responsible for security. Besides the fact that I
would need to vet each person involved, they're involved in a game,
and they won't be paying attention at all times to security issues,
which is what would be required.
As for the dealers, I'm glad the ones at BGG were thrilled, but the
ones at GenCon SoCal who had items stolen in multiple years definitely
weren't, and you're talking about the same kind of set-up they had
there. Even with as much security as we have been able to supply at
the Westin, one dealer had some items stolen. Many of the dealers go
by my personal assurance of the level of security. I couldn't
possibly guarantee security with the scenario you suggest. I cannot
in good consicence bring this idea to them.
