[Deptheads] RPG Room Ideas

Howdy,

A couple of ideas occurred to me as I tried to mentally clean off the?"stuff" that hit the fan over the issue of?private RPG rooms.

1) Really simple in theory, if not execution, and I'm sure EVERYONE has?considered of this, but I thought it should be mentioned... Let's make sure we max out the use of cabanas for Gamex and beyond - if they are our closest viable option to private rooms; let's squeeze every ounce of gaming goodness out of them. I'd also suggest trying to spread the wealth (and word of mouth) about the pool area rooms as widely as possible.? If say, a GM is running an event twice, try to have one sitting in a cabana, and the other in a circle drive room?? I.e., try to get as many people out there at least once?

2) OK - this one is a bit like the SF TV series fan who tries to rationalize plot holes and continuity errors in their favorite show, but, here goes...??Would it be feasible/doable/workable to have say, two or three rooms on the third floor for RPGs? This might only band-aid a hemorage, but it might help soften the blow of a department-wide loss of facilities and attendee good will. It would, though, keep our "toe in the water."

Issues:

A) It would scatter RPG events more.? But this scattering seems worth the hassle to eliminate the "they got rid of private rooms" word-of-mouth. It might well soften some potential strident posturing, if there are enough people around to counter the inevitable grumblings by saying, "oh we had an event out by the pool, and my friend had an event upstairs."

B) Would the hotel go for it, even at that level?? Or, is it a all-in or all-out issue?? If most third floor rooms would be used as regular guest rooms, would they be leery of gamers in the hallways?? OR, could we see about having all rooms used for sleeping on that floor being reserved for convention attendees???? No general public to annoy?

C) Still too pricey to be worth it?

Anyway, that's my brain storm.
