D&D miniatures (Version 2) was released on April 8th.
Starter set and booster packs (Dungeon of dread set)

The collectable miniature game is a miniature battle. Each mini has a card.
The collectable miniature game stats for each figure are on one side of the card, and the role playing game stats for current edition are on the other side (now 4th edition).
They have a schedule for reprinting cards from the previous 7 booster sets to be compatible with the new set (so you can still have usable cards for the 500 or so miniatures already available.

D&D miniatures are already being demo'd in local stores and like many other collectable games they already have an approved play system (judges had to pass tests to be elgible to judge, monthly tourneys at local stores and game clubs, and they SELL prize suport kits each month. You can buy kits for Magic: the gathering, star wars miniatures, d&D miniatures, axis and allies miniatures, and other games they support. DCI and otherwise. World and national rankings.
Strategicon is already in the flow of all this.

The new edition for collectable miniature gamers means they have to download or purchase updated cards for their miniatures and buy some new boosters or singles.
Nothing bigger than when they come out with a new booster set every other month or so.
Since several of our dealers already carry D&D miniatures I would advise them to sell singles as well. It is well known that most D&D mini sales go to roleplayers who want them for their rpg games or need them for their official rpga events. These gamers want to buy specific figures and not drop $15 for 8 random miniatures. The old will sell as much as the new singles since they can get the updated cards soon. The dealers should make out good on this. Singles , singles, singles.
.
Pushing the snot out of them might not work since they sell their snot. hehe....But anything you can get free from them above and beyond what they "sell" for support is Bonus. Score .I will email you my media contacts with wotc as well as D&D mini designer Steve Schubert and brand manager Scott rouse.

Mickey Tan, one of the RPGA team, has secured Gamex as the site for the D&D Open Championship US Pacific Region Qualifier rounds. The top 3 teams will receive invites to the semi-finals which I assume are at GenCon. This will be the last big hurrah of the old edition. Congrats to Mickey for stealing the event away from KublaCon.

Now we are pushing RPGA HQ to provide us mass email direct marketing to all their members in the US Pacific Region. Too bad they didn't tell us this last week before we printed the flyer. I have no idea how popular these qualifier events are at conventions and I have asked for some prior event numbers.

Since we are now hosting 4e previews and the DnD Open, we are going to be pushing the snot out of WotC to provide prize support. I have also asked them for prize support for D&D collectible minis demos. Victor, email me directly so we can talk about this. I would love to get cross-department pollination out of these events.
