Both. Being near the San Diego and Long Beach shipyards, we have potential to attract some new people with GQ. I will eventually be running 4 or 5 different games in the area, and anyone attending is welcome and will find them enjoyable. Also, the 20 x 30 space is pretty all inclusive....don't need much more room than that for everything else.
*** We are short of space and you want a giant game in the middle of the con, so you can create a buzz? John, quit spending money on this. If you want to create a buzz, play it at local meetings until you can get people to come and play.
*** What does being near the shipyards have to do with it? Have we been getting a lot of dock workers at the con?
I really need this not only visible, but I need people steered towards it to get word of mouth going among the new gamers who haven't seen it before.
*** This sounds like you have no gamers for it. I understand wanting to create a game, but we're short of space, you have spent way too much money already, and taking a large amount of space in the best spot in the con makes no sense at all.
Robert is right, when you get enough players and eye candy for the terrain it should go in that spot. Trying to force a game down people's throats won't work, they are drawn to it by the look and by the people running it. If it looks fun they'll try, if it is fun they'll buy. Just because it is there doesn't mean people will play, or even stop.
For the Foyer, we're putting the D&D 4E Dungeon Delve deals, if we want to put a historical minis game out there, put the Flames of War or Fields of Glory guys out there during the day, they do a great job at getting the crowd to join in, and are the 2 hottest historical mini games at the moment. At night the Warhammer siege or the Apocalypse battles would be great there.
